The Old Court House is a traditional thatched
country Inn, dating from 1633 with many interesting features to
view within this Grade 2 listed building, including an original
'Royal House of Stuart' Coat of arms (Charles 1). Savour the
sensation of 'time stood still', the peace and
tranquillity of a traditional Inn..
A good range of traditional ales and
ciders are available from the Bar and we are open for food and
drink all day, every day. Meals from our extensive menu (many home
made dishes) can be served in the Bar, in our quiet Dining Room or in the
pretty cobbled Courtyard garden.
We offer both serviced and un-serviced accommodation.
There is a Four Poster bed in the 'Coat of Arms' room, a Family
Room which is en-suite (1 double bed + single bed) and a cot is
provided if required. We also offer a self contained Flat, equipped to
a high standard (bed/sitting room,kitchen/diner and large bathroom) that sleeps
up to six people, (1 double bed, 2 double bed-settees).
Our Skittle Alley and Function Room has a PEL (75 persons)
serviced by its own Bar. Pool, Darts, Table Skittles, Shove h'penny and
'Karem' are also available. The locals will welcome you as warmly as
resident hosts Sam and Paddy. Childrens Certificate and Supper Hour Extension
in force.
Chulmleigh is a very pretty town with a village atmosphere,
there are a number of walks, a well as a
Golf Course
and
Equestrian Centre.
The Old Court House is an ideal base for touring the area, with
the contrasting Exmoor and Dartmoor National Parks both within easy reach,
as indeed are both the North and South Devon coasts. The RHS Garden at
Rosemoor, Torrington and the National Trust house and
gardens at Knightshayes,Tiverton are all nearby.
